To drive legally you need to: be at least 21 years old; hold a category B driving licence for more than 3 years with Group 2 endorsement; complete 50 hours of TVDE road transport training; pass the IMT final exam; hold a TVDE driver certificate (CMTVDE) issued by the IMT; and provide a criminal record certificate proving good standing. If you don't meet all requirements yet, we guide you through the process.

The CMTVDE is issued by the IMT after training and the exam. It is the document that qualifies you to drive on platforms such as Uber or Bolt. If you don't have one yet, we help guide you through the entire process.

The certificate is valid for 5 years. To renew it, you must complete an 8-hour refresher course, maintain good standing and apply for renewal with the IMT. If it expires, you must retake the initial 50-hour course and pass the exam again.

No. With CristeMath you can rent a vehicle from our fleet at a fixed rate and start driving with no upfront investment.

The vehicle must have Portuguese registration, up to 9 seats (including the driver), at least 4 doors and be less than 7 years old from first registration. It also needs a valid TVDE periodic inspection and specific passenger transport insurance. When you rent with us, these requirements are already covered.

Mandatory coverage includes motor third-party liability insurance with TVDE extension (including transported passengers) and occupational accident insurance for the driver. We help ensure your vehicle and activity are properly protected.

Yes. You must register as a self-employed worker with CAE 49320 (occasional passenger transport in light vehicles) — the preferred code accepted by the IMT for TVDE. If you already have an employment contract, you can register TVDE as a secondary activity. You may also list CAE 49392 (other land passenger transport in light vehicles) as a complementary secondary activity.
